Diverse & Ethical Horror
Monsters & Morals {Aka: MoMo} is a BIPOC & Disability forward stream team uplifting marginalised creators that {partially OR solely} create Horror / Creepy Content as well as partake in & promote Ethical Media Consumption when Accessible!The team was formed by a small group of marginalised folk who grew tired of not seeing ourselves & others like us being represented within the Horror / Creepy Twitch scene.We know others like us exist in these spaces, as we are living proof of this. Unfortunately though, as is with most corners of the internet, content from marginalised folk tends to get less traction in the best cases & can be actively suppressed in the worst cases. This mixed with accessibility barriers {lack of Trigger Warnings, Accessibility in many Horror Games, etc} has made it difficult for folk like us to grow in the scene.So, we created Monsters & Morals To:1. Highlight BIPOC / Disabled Folk as well as highlighting our fellow marginalised folks {Eg: 2SLGBTQIA+; Femmes; etc} in the scene.2. Promote a higher level of ethical media consumption & inclusion within the Horror / Creepy Media community!We are a small {and unofficial} stream team, so we are aware we may make errors along the way & would like to apologise in advance for any missteps we may make.We sincerely hope you’ll be patient with us as we try to help forge the Horror / Creepy spaces on Twitch into something more welcoming & accessible for us all.
Monsters & Morals is still an incredibly young team so we don't currently have a huge amount of admin, however, we want to highlight the Leads & Mods that we do have as a lot of the behind the scenes work would not have been possible without them!

Why Should I Include These Warnings?
Trigger Warnings {Aka. Content Warnings} are an integral part of making media more accessible for people. By giving people the relevant warnings to the media you are streaming / have uploaded / are talking about you are giving them tools to decide what is right for them & their mental / physical health.Some ways that people may use trigger warnings to decide what is right for them are:1. Deciding to leave the media alone for now, and instead engage with it at a later date when they're in a better mental state / safer environment to handle whatever the content warnings entailed.
2. Deciding to not engage with the media at all.While not exclusive to the Horror Sphere, a large portion of the media within Horror does not always have trigger warnings readily accessible. Which makes the Horror scene in particular quite a dangerous place for those who may deal with seizures, trauma, mental health issues, phobias, etc.So, we implore all those reading this to include Trigger Warnings in the content they create! Regardless of the Genre they cover!
How Do I Find Trigger / COntent Warnings?
As stated before, we're well aware that it's difficult to always find all the trigger warnings for a particular piece of media. However, including some trigger warnings is better than including none! And if you encounter something that is worthy of a trigger warning during gameplay / viewing / discussion / etc, you can simply add that to the trigger warning list for future people stumbling upon your streams / videos / etc.!Some ways to find Trigger / Content Warnings in advance are:1. For Games:A) Check The Steam Page: Games with triggering content will sometimes include at least one or two warnings at the bottom in a section labelled "MATURE CONTENT DESCRIPTION".B. Check the Games Website: Some devs will have a dedicated "Trigger / Content Warnings" Page on their website that you can pull from.C) Check The Games' Press kit {If Available}: Sometimes devs will have a dedicated section for these warnings in their press kit for creators to use when warning their viewers. You'll often receive a press kit when collaborating with a dev!D) Check the Game's Menu: If you already have the game, or have access to a demo of a game, sometimes they will include these warnings within one of the options in their menu! Sometimes this may have it's own tab, or it may fall under other tabs so make sure to check as many as you can!2. For any Media Type {Games or Otherwise}:A) Search "[media name] trigger / content warnings" on Reddit, Bluesky, Other socials.B) Check the following sites to see if there's Trigger Lists already Available!
How Do I Even Warn People?
When including trigger / content warnings there are several ways & places that you can share them!1. Pinned Message: If streaming on a website that allows you to have pinned messages for the duration of streams, you can utilise your pinned message by pinning the list of Trigger / Content Warnings so it's easily visible for the viewers.2. Video Description: If you're uploading a Video or a Stream Vod you can simply add Triggers / Content Warnings in the description box of your video!3. On Screen & Visual Representation: Whether uploading a video or streaming, another good way to let your audience know about the Triggers / Content Warnings is by verbally reading them out & adding text on the screen that lists them out for a few seconds / minutes as well.
However if you're streaming & want to go with this route, we reccomend that you pair it with the options below!4. Timed Messages: If streaming add a timed message that goes off every so often {we reccomend every hourish} that lists the Trigger / Content Warnings so those who are there when they go off will see the list and know what to expect. {Works even more effectively when you pair it with Option 5}5. Stream Commands: If streaming add a command that people can pull up at any time {example: !tw / !cw} so it's available whenever they appear in chat or whenever anyone needs a refresher!
I want to help but this is too much / I don't want to get spoilered.
That's understandable, it does take extra time and energy to get stuff in advance. And it's fair to not want to be spoilered for media that you, yourself may be engaging with for the first time!Here's some more suggestions that should help you avoid spoilers & be relatively low effort for most!If Streaming:
Step 1: Make a command that links people to some resources to help them find their own trigger / content warnings for the media you're streaming / discussing.{We suggest linking DoesTheDogDie but you can use any, feel free to browse the resource buttons above in section 2!}Step 2: Copy that command into a timed message version so it goes off periodically to remind people.Step 3: Pin the message like discussed in the first suggestion of the section above!If Posting a Video:
Add links to some resources to help viewers find their own trigger / content warnings for the media you're sharing / discussing in the description box of your video!{We suggest linking DoesTheDogDie but you can use any, feel free to browse the resource buttons above in section 2!}

Currently the team isn't celebrating anything, as we're setting up for the team launch!But when we host raid trains, events, etc then we will share that information here!
